He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Committee for Otitis Media. Dr Cripps is a member of a number of scientific committees and advisory boards related to health and vaccine research. He recently launched the academic e-journal pneumonia and plays an active role as Editor-in-Chief. He is also the founder and steering committee member of NTHi-Watch and was recently appointed to the Council of 100 for the journal Vaccine.

Dr Cripps is a member of a number of Australian and international bodies including the Australian and American Societies of Microbiology, the Australasian Society of Immunology and the American Association for Immunology.
