Charles O’Connor Demonstrates Proficiency and Passion in Greenhouse Horticulture

After 25 years as an educator, Mr. O’Connor established a greenhouse inspired by his upbringing

GREENSBORO, NC, July 10, 2013, Charles M. O’Connor, has been recognized by Worldwide Who’s Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in greenhouse horticulture.

Mr. O'Connor is a retired teacher who served in the education field for 25 years. The first six years he was a teacher at Andrews High School in High Point, NC. The next six years, Mr. O'Connor was the Assistant Principal at Smith High School in Greensboro, NC. During the next nine years, he was the Assistant Director of Bus Transportation for the Greensboro, NC, City School District.  The next two years, he was a Social Studies teacher at Grimsley High School and during the last 3 years he was in charge of the In-School Suspension and After School Detention Programs for Grimsley High School. He then made a bold career shift and established a greenhouse growing company. Drawing on inspiration from his grandparents, who exposed him to vegetable growing at a young age, his inherent motivation and skills have brought him success over the last seven years. As an entrepreneur, Mr. O’Connor not only grows vegetables and flowers for farmers, but also oversees the public sales and marketing of his business.

Mr. O’Connor attributes his current successes to the skills he retained as an Eagle Scout.  In his most recent interview with Worldwide Who’s Who, he stated that he is “very proud to have attained the level of Eagle Scout and I still stay involved as it greatly influenced who I am.” He served as a Scout camp counselor from 1967-1969 and duly earned the distinction of Order of the Arrow.

Mr. O’Connor received a Master of Education in educational administration from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1979. He maintains affiliation with the Pine Haven Village Association and the High Chaparral Property Owners Association and enjoys volunteering with his local church.. He was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award from Andrews High School in 1979 and the Administrator of the Year Award from Smith High School in 1981 and 1984. In the future, Mr. O’Connor intends to grow professionally byway of a part-time teaching position at the university level.
