Gloria Giersch Vaughn Recognized by Worldwide Who’s Who

Gloria Vaughn is dedicated to improving the lives of children

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS, August 27, 2012, Gloria Giersch Vaughn, Child Development Specialist and Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired at Vaughn Consultants, has been recognized by Worldwide Who’s Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in education and consulting.

After studying at Vanderbilt University in 1978, she received a Masters Degree in Psychology and an Educational Specialists Degree (EdS) in Child Development. She worked in this field until 1991. Mrs. Vaughn found her niche in early childhood development and built an interest in educational consulting. After working with blind students in the Early Childhood setting, she attended classes related to the education of blind and visually impaired students through the University of Texas. Consequently, she became certified as a teacher of the visually impaired in 1992.

With 48 years of experience in education and consulting, she serves as an outstanding teacher of the visually impaired for Vaughn Consultants, where she manages 10 visually impaired babies and 11 children with multiple disabilities including eight children with deaf-blindness. Mrs. Vaughn has experience in writing grants, mentoring and teaching college classes for teachers who work with children in early childhood and special educational settings. This past summer she taught eight deaf-blind students classroom and homebound settings. Mrs. Vaughn’s hard work, perseverance and extensive research have made her an effective educator; she has received various awards for her excellent service. Furthermore, she has co-authored and published 23 children’s stories in one book. Keeping current with her industry, she is a member of the Texas Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of Students with Visual Impairment, the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Council for Exceptional Children and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Having achieved years of success in her field, she intends to continue teaching.

Mrs. Vaughn was not always involved in childhood development. She initially studied music and education and received a Bachelor of Science in these fields from Texas Wesleyan University at Forth Worth in 1962. She also attained a Master of Science in psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1975 and an Educational Specialist (EdS) in Child Development in 1976. Aside from her current profession, Mrs. Vaughn enjoys beadwork, making jewelry, playing music, singing, reading, traveling and spending time with her two great-grandchildren.
