Jacqueline Volkart Recognized by Worldwide Branding for Excellence in Hotel Management

Ms. Volkart helped lead The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan to a ‘Green Hotel’ Award
from the Puerto Rican Tourism Company

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO, September 21, 2015, Jacqueline Volkart, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in hotel management.

With nearly three decades in the industry, Ms Volkart knows what it takes to be successful in hospitality. A part of The Ritz-Carlton Company for 22 years, she has managed hotels in New York, Miami and most recently Puerto Rico.

As general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, Ms. Volkart led the hotel to a ‘Green Hotel’ award from the Puerto Rican Tourism Company, and is the first full-service facility to receive such an accolade in the Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Program. This is the second time a hotel she has managed was recognized for focusing on sustainable principles, natural and cultural conversation, environmental education, community integration and local social-economic development, receiving a similar accolade from the Miami Hotel Association in 2012 for The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami.

A people person with solid knowledge in relationship building, Ms. Volkart achieved her success through her passion for the hotel industry. She believes that success is only possible when inspiring others and that any project can be achieved with a team of passionate individualsHe continued aim is to share, teach and lead others, and be a role model to professionals around the globe.

Ms. Volkart’s advice to the next generation heading into the workforce, which she orated as industry speaker at her MBA graduation in 2013, is to be punctual, take initiatives and make your bosses look successful. She also believes that, in the words of  Albert Schweitzer, 'Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what we do, you will be successful.'

A professed life-long learner, Ms. Volkart returned to school to receive a MBA in international hospitality and services industries management from Glion Institute of Higher Education in 2013 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in 1986. She intends to work towards Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification next.
