Jean B. Boulais Recognized for Excellence in Administration and Compliance

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, December 19, 2014, Jean Boulais, the President of Baseball Quebec and the Access to Information and Privacy Director of Atomic Energy of Canada, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Branding. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Baseball Quebec is the provincial governing body for baseball, for ages 8 and up, in the Canadian province. Atomic Energy of Canada provides energy services.

Mr. Boulais not only has expertise in baseball, but also in developing strong privacy management frameworks and completing privacy impact assessments that adhere to treasury board policies and the legislative requirements of the Privacy Act. He is well-versed in compliance with the Canadian Federal Access & Privacy Acts and the treasury board’s privacy impact assessment policy, and with the manual “Guidelines: A Framework to Manage Privacy Risks.” He is also skilled at the establishment, management and direction of all levels of an ATIP office.

His duty in his role at Baseball Quebec is supervising a federation that has more than 2,500 members and 10 full-time employees with numerous volunteers, umpires, scorekeepers and coaches. Mr. Boulais also serves as chairman of human resources and strategic planner of Baseball Canada. In the future, Mr. Boulais plans to continue to work as a director for Baseball Quebec.

At Atomic Energy, Mr. Boulais is overseeing the section that entails inquiries to its access to information and privacy requests within the federal government departments.

Mr. Boulais attributes his success to his communication skills and knowledge. He became involved in baseball after he was coach of his son’s team in the Gatineau region. Among the many highlights of his career is that thanks to his determination and work, a female baseball league has prospered in the Outaouais region and then in Quebec.

Such an impressive a work ethic and determination has led to several accolades. Mr. Boulais captured the Merit Award from the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, a Natural Resource Canada Award and a Certificate from United Way Worldwide.

Mr. Boulais has undergone numerous training programs, including: Privacy Impact Assessment Workshop Office of the Privacy Commission (2010); AECL Canada Labour Code for Managers, Continuous Behaviour Observation Program, OHS Programs Manual Awareness and Environmental Protection for Managers (2009); ATIP Compliance Ratings on the Management Accountability Framework, Treasury Board (2008); Access to Information Act: Focus on Reports to Parliament, Treasury Board (2006); Privacy Impact Assessment Course, Treasury Board Secretariat (2003); Access to Information Act: Focus on InfoSource, Treasury Board (2002); and Information Management Certificate, Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology (1978).

Recently inducted into Worldwide Branding, Mr. Boulais also maintains an affiliation with the Institute for Sport Coaching. Charitably, he supports the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research.
