Julie Millowick Recognized by Worldwide Branding for Excellence in Higher Education and Visual Communication

Julie Millowick has been committed to documenting people and environmental conditions in her own region of Central Victoria for many years

FRYERSTOWN, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, November 26, 2014, Julie Millowick, Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University, Bendigo Campus and Owner of Julie Millowick Photo, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education and photography.

Ms. Millowick embarked on her creative career working in the darkroom at Athol Shmith, John Cato and Peter Barr. She then attended Prahran College of Advanced Education and received her Diploma with a major in Photography. Directly out of college, she began working as a public relations photographer, but then chose to try her hand at industrial photography, particularly in situations calling for added lighting. Ms. Millowick is an extremely talented woman who has been acknowledged as a Professional of the Year by Worldwide Branding. In her role at La Trobe University, she established the Online Photojournalism Course, teaching online to students at the five La Trobe Campuses, as well as single unit students across Australia and into Asia. She also documents major projects, books, illustrations and artworks. Most recently, she released a book entitled “Remembrance,” acknowledging the centenary of WW1 and the impact it had on families and communities across Australia.

Ms. Millowick has been committed to documenting people and environmental conditions in her own region of Central Victoria for many years. In 1993, her work was exhibited in “Intimate Lives” with Sally Mann, Nan Goldin and Jaques Henri Lartigue at the International Fotofeis in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her work is also in the collections of The National Gallery of Australia, The National Gallery of Victoria, La Trobe Print Collection State Library of Victoria, Monash Gallery of Art, and the Regional Art Galleries of Castlemaine, Bendigo, Horsham, and Warrnambool. She holds a Master of Arts degree from RMIT University, is on the boards of the Bendigo Art Gallery, the Castlemaine State Festival and Regional Arts Victoria. She undertakes volunteer work for the Castlemaine State Festival.
