Lydia Simon Honored for Success in Cross-Cultural Coaching and Consulting
XUJING, QINGPU, SHANGHAI, CHINA, May 13, 2014, Lydia Simon, Director of Product Development in the Asia-Pacific Region of Bayer MaterialScience AG, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in management.
Dr. Simon has 21 years of industry experience, using her expertise in management, coaching and training. Since she moved to Shanghai, she has been hard at work building effective teams. Currently, she is hiring and leading teams of Chinese and Asian professional with academic backgrounds and doctoral degrees. She is also overseeing daily operation processes, including product development and production, and building the link between R&D, production and sales and marketing for the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Simon was the first female to become a plant manager in a production facility of Bayer MaterialScience in Belgium. She participated in the design and startup of a grassroots world-scale production facility in China, and built three successful teams that are now operating in world-class manufacturing and R&D facilities. She also founded her own company, focusing on cross-cultural coaching and consulting. Further, she started a mentoring program for young female professionals in Shanghai and is the mentor of another program for young chemists in Germany. When her assignment in China ends, she will look for a new environment to live with her family and would like to take new opportunities privately and professionally. One option is to focus more on executive coaching.
Successful because of her natural curiosity and intuitive mindset, Dr. Simon enjoys taking on challenges. She had always wanted to pursue a career in management. She had obtained an MBA in strategic management from the Graduate School of Management at NIMBAS to have more of an economic background, in addition to her Ph.D. in chemistry, which she obtained from Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany. She also holds a postdoctoral degree in biotechnology. Taking on different positions in various functions, she stepwise moved to her current position. She and her husband both work for Bayer.
