Michael Dunne Honored for Photographic Excellence

For Mr. Dunne, stardom has been a snap

MASHAM, RIPON, UK, March 3, 2015, Michael Dunne, Photographer and Owner of Michael Dunne Photography & Design, was recently named a VIP Member of Worldwide Branding. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

For 55 years, Mr. Dunne’s photography career has been global. It has taken him from the best studios in 1950s London to the glamorous fashion scene of the radical 1960s in London, New York, Paris and Rome, and into the stylish world of interior design photography in the 1970s, all while working within fashion, advertising and portraiture.

Now in semi-retirement, Mr. Dunne focuses his photo work on interior design and architecture. He is also managing photo workshops and creating features and campaigns for global fashion magazines and advertising agencies. He is passionate about sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with up-and-coming photographers.

Mr. Dunne has been heavily influenced by a list of impressive mentors and colleagues such as Baron, Cecil Beaton, Richard Avedon and Irving Penn. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from Litt University College in 1953, he apprenticed with Baron and Cecil Beaton. He was then commissioned by The Royal Opera House to photograph Operas and The Royal Ballet in 1950s London.

Mr. Dunne worked in the fashion world, and his photos appeared in The London Evening News, The Times, Queen and Tatler. He created fashion spreads, traveling all over Europe to immortalize the hottest models and designers of the day. Demand for his services soared, and he also worked for the original ELLE magazine and Harpers Bazaar. He split his professional time between London and New York, creating features and campaigns for global fashion magazines and advertising agencies.

With the encouragement of Mary Gilliat of The Times and Erica Brown of the New York Times in 1975, Mr. Dunne moved into architectural and interior design photography, developing a new way of lighting interiors. His work was published in many magazines, and he illustrated many books about design.

Mr. Dunne’s tremendous success is attributed to his hard work, connections and pursuit of his dreams, because he always had an interest in the arts and literature.

Recently inducted into Worldwide Branding, Mr. Dunne also maintains an affiliation with the Masham Photography Club, which produces classical concerts and recitals by up-and-coming young musicians. Not surprisingly, Mr. Dunne’s hobbies are quite artistic -- painting and visiting galleries. For more information about him, visit http://www8.clikpic.com/michaeldunne.
