Nancy Lantz, RN, BSN, ICCE/ICD Named Executive of the Year in Childbirth Education

KNOXVILLE, TN, May 1, 2015, Nancy Lantz, Former President of the International Childbirth Education Association, has been named a Worldwide Branding Executive of the Year in Childbirth Education. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Ms. Lantz has 33 years of professional experience, having recently stepped down as the President of the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA). While serving as President, she lead the Board of Directors in a strategic planning effort for revision and development of childbirth educator and doula certification programs, implemented action plans for national and international ICEA visibility, and presided over two ICEA annual conferences. Throughout her career, she has established herself as an expert in prenatal and postpartum doula care. On a daily basis, she is responsible for planning strategies for childbirth education services. Ms. Lantz is experienced in labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. She has also been a clinical instructor for nursing students.

Presently, Ms. Lantz is the owner of Oh Baby Birth, a women’s health company that offers childbirth classes and doula services to expectant mothers and families. Serving Knoxville Tenn. and the surrounding areas, Ms. Lantz can travel to meet with mothers at the birthplace of their choice. Her classes cover the full spectrum of the maternal experience, and range from breast feeding courses, to baby development milestone classes, and even big brother and big sister courses, designed to help future older siblings prepare for the changing family dynamic that comes with a new addition.

Looking back, Ms. Lantz attributes her success to working with people with similar mindsets. She developed her management skills and practiced her nursing profession in the high risk labor and delivery unit at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Her nursing and leadership career continued at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. While in Nantucket, Ms. Lantz developed and established Oh Baby, a provider of childbirth education and Doula services to meet the needs of mothers and families. She currently is active as Childbirth Education Coordinator at Tennova-Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Ms. Lantz received a degree in nursing from West Virginia Wesleyan College. In addition to her degree, she is a certified doula and childbirth educator and she is a member of AAUW and AWHONN. In years to come, Ms. Lantz plans to continue her successful involvement with ICEA as an advocate for women, supporting freedom to make decisions based on knowledge of alternatives in family-centered maternity and newborn care.
