William K. Dabish Inducted into Worldwide Who’s Who for Excellence in Fitness and Entrepreneurship
William Dabish co-founded the Powerhouse Gym, the largest gym chain and gym licensing organization in the world
NOVI, MI, August 22, 2013, William K. Dabish, Co-founder, President and Chairman of the Board of Powerhouse Gym, has been recognized by Worldwide Who’s Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in fitness and entrepreneurship.
A pioneer in the fitness industry, William Dabish co-founded Powerhouse Gym nearly 40 years ago with his brother, Norman Dabish. The road to fitness began in their youth, when the Dabish’s became inspired by American bodybuilder and actor, Stephen L. Reeves, and decided they wanted to pursue careers in the field of health and fitness. As teenagers, Mr. Dabish and his brother converted a supply store in the back room of their father’s grocery store in Highland Park, MI into a basic workout center called Warrior Martial Arts, which eventually evolved into the first Powerhouse Gym.
Powerhouse Gym is now the largest gym chain and gym licensing organization in the world. It is also the only private health club/gym chain left that is run by gym owners. Boasting the latest trends, Powerhouse is growing continuously and will be introducing more locations and business concepts this year. In fact, the company is slated to launch an initiative called FX, which Mr. Dabish predicts will become the largest and most well-known brand/club of its kind. The initiative will target personal trainers and provide training facilities for men who have lost their jobs, are over qualified to identify appropriate employment, work without benefits and/or receive low wages for providing personal training services; it will allow them to secure funds and invest in fitness training.
Mr. Dabish feels that 2013 will be the most significant year for Powerhouse Gym. In fact, he intends to broaden the Powerhouse brand worldwide by way of opening 70 gyms in China to supplement the 250 Powerhouse locations already established throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia. In the long run, he intends to open a total of 1,000 Powerhouse locations.
A highly-motivated fitness enthusiast, Mr. Dabish has achieved various athletic accomplishments throughout his life, including the title of Japanese Karate Champion and U.S. Powerlifting Champion. He also holds a black belt in Koei-Kan Karate-Do. Mr. Dabish remains actively involved with certain affiliates of the Powerhouse family, including Powerhouse Fitness Foundation and Powerhouse Highland Club.
